She does not go into the issue of Edwards' paternity of Rielle Hunter's baby and the bizarre attempt to cover it up using a married campaign worker, but she does talk candidly about the revelation of the affair. The story is very sad, but Elizabeth Edwards is definitely a survivor.

After the former presidential hopeful confessed his betrayal, Elizabeth Edwards writes in her new book, "I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up."

...Edwards denied paternity, and his wife's book doesn't address that issue.

But it does highlight Elizabeth Edwards' anger and sorrow at being duped by a man whose four children she'd borne and whose political ambitions she'd passionately supported for so many years.

Hunter initially seduced Edwards using a worn come-on line, Elizabeth writes:

"You are so hot," Hunter told him outside a swank New York hotel. The campaign ultimately paid Hunter $114,000 to produce a batch of short films on his candidacy.

She lashes out at Hunter, now 45, whose name she never actually uses in the book, as a parasitic groupie who invaded the Edwardses' life.

Her own life may be tragic, she concludes, but Hunter's is "pathetic."

Even when Edwards confessed to his wife, he lied, claiming he had slipped up just once, Elizabeth writes. His original version of the story "left most of the truth out," she writes.

In her new memoir, "Resilience," Elizabeth Edwards says her husband should not have run for president.

"He should not have run," she writes, according to the New York Daily News, who received an advance copy. The paper adds that Edwards does not once use the name of John Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter. But she describes the aspiring videographer as "pathetic."

When she learned of her husband's infidelity, "I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up," Edwards writes.

Elizabeth Edwards is releasing a short memoir titled "Resilience," Fox News reports, in which she will address her husband's affair with a campaign videographer.

Edwards insiders are wondering if "Resilience" will be a tell-all, tell-some, tell-none, or an exercise in denial. The Broadway Books catalog says Edwards has written "an unsentimental and ultimately inspirational meditation on the gifts we can find among life's biggest challenges."

President Barack Obama marked his 100th day in office Wednesday with a primetime news conference in which he told the American people he was pleased but not satisfied with the progress of the nation's economy, and twice advised citizens to wash their hands and cover their mouths when they cough to prevent the spread of pandemic flu.

"I think we're off to a good start, but it's just a start," Obama said of his three-month-old administration. "I'm proud of what we've achieved, but I'm not content. I'm pleased with our progress, but I'm not satisfied."

Obama was asked about the future of the U.S. auto industry, the safety of nuclear weapons in Pakistan, the political significance of Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter becoming a Democrat, what kind of shareholder the government will be and whether the Bush administration tortured detainees.

The president paused and sighed before answering that the methods used against detainees were torture and the information gained by such methods could have been collected other ways. He said he was "very comfortable" with his decision to ban interrogation methods he considers torture.

Concessions from auto workers and creditors have allowed Chrysler to likely avoid bankruptcy and merge with Fiat, Obama said. General Motors has "a lot of good product" and can still emerge a strong and competitive company, he said.

At several points during the news conference, he said he did not wish to run private industries and would prefer a "slimmer portfolio" of tasks.

"I don't want to run auto companies," Obama said. "I've got two wars I've got to run already."

He expressed concern about the stability of Pakistan, but said he believed nuclear weapons were safe.

Obama began his 100th day by welcoming Specter to the Democratic party. He said he does not expect Specter "to be a rubber stamp." The president then delivered an optimistic assessment at a town hall meeting outside of St. Louis, Mo., a battleground state he lost by fewer than 4,000 votes.

"On my 100th day in office, I've come back to report to you, the American people, that we have begun to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off," he said.

Later, his administration encouraged schools with cases of swine flu to close temporarily to contain the outbreak.

Another story line of the day had lawmakers, news organizations and interest groups assigning grades to the president's performance thus far.

gradegov.com

gradegov.com

This is the hottest news coming right now read below to get more info.

Politico’s Victoria McGrane wrote a piece that got my attention about a new Web site that might help congressional lawmakers stay in touch with their constitutents. The site, GradeGov.com, is still in production, but is supposed to launch next week. It has as its motto: “They work for you. Remind them.” The site’s goal is to give average Americans a means through which they can have their views reach lawmakers without going through the filter of newspapers, pundits, pollsters or paid staff. This sounds all well and good.

GradeGov.com will be designed to allow users to grade individual congressional lawmakers’ performance, write letters and read others, and help users find and follow lawmakers. The site will require users to log in and provide their ZIP code, among other information, so lawmakers can tell where the users that has graded them lives (i.e., whether they are a constituent or not).

After reading McGrane’s article, several of us here at Sunlight put our heads together in order to suggest what we hope is helpful advice. Here are some of our thoughts and questions:

As the article says, the site’s target community is “average voters” with an overall “nonpartisan” bent. With the outliers of obviously corrupt/incompetent lawmakers aside, there is no consensus in American politics of how to rate politicians. For aggregate evaluation to succeed, there must be some general idea of what “good” and “bad” are.

The site will require users to log in and provide their ZIP code, among other information, so lawmakers can tell when a grade comes from one of their own constituents. How is the site going to verify that a voter lives in a particular district?

McGrane writes that one of the GradeGov.com’s goals will be to help solve the problem of constituent voices being drowned out by countless polls. How can this be accomplished by adding another poll? At best it’ll be briefly embraced for its novelty, then eventually consigned to the same level of attention given to other forms of constituent communication. It sounds to us to be destined to be an unscientific poll over sampling the demographics that use the Internet most heavily. We already have quite a few of those.

The in district/out of district ratings idea is interesting, but the political science result that people love their representatives and hate everyone else’s is sufficiently strong that we’d be surprised to see much deviation from it for legislators who aren’t already indicted.

In some ways it sounds as if Gradegov.com will have a lot of overlap with what OpenCongress already is doing, such as gathering ZIP codes during registration and displaying the average rating from all OpenCongress users on each individual lawmaker’s page. OpenCongress also provides some district-specific information, including how constituents rate a member.

With all this said, I’ll look forward to seeing the GradeGov.com in action.

taylor hicks

taylor hicks

Taylor Hicks is back performing on "American Idol." More than any other winner he was a creature of the show. His Soul Patrol sprung up seemingly overnight, he did really well on the show's format, won - -and since then....

I liked him when he was on "Idol"; a great guy, someone who had a lot of fun and who seemed to enjoy all the silliness that comes with competing on "American Idol" (doing hokey commercials, bantering with Ryan, dressing up).

But I think the show has grown to the point where he wouldn't crack the current top five. He gives the finalists great advice, though -- it's all about song choice at this point .

And, after a very public battle with breast cancer that has given her a gratifying "feeling of purpose," Christina Applegate has a new lease on life.

"I used to be really shy but I started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s," Applegate, 37, tells PEOPLE in the cover interview for the annual Most Beautiful issue — her first interview since her reconstructive breast surgery last November. "Now I'm not afraid to speak up in a room full of people and be a part of the conversation."

The Samantha Who? star says she's finding balance and embracing her body after undergoing a double mastectomy in July.

Deborra Lee Furness is a famous actress and also the wife of a Hugh Jackman. Both met in a shooting of a TV series “Correlli” in 1995. They start liking each other and they get married in April, 1996. Deborrah won four FCCA Awards.

Hugh Jackman may be the sexy, buff star in the "X-Men" prequel, but it’s his wife Deborra-Lee Furness’s bedroom habits and past relationships that has the Internet buzzing this morning.

Jackman, who plays the title character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which hits theaters today, was quoted in the Daily Mail about how he and his wife of 13 years keep the passion alive. "Deb loves the idea of me coming home in costume because it makes her feel as if she’s having an affair in a good way," said the 40-year-old actor, who hails from Australia. "When we met, I was cast as a prisoner with tattoos and she’d say, ‘Don’t take your tattoos off tonight.’"

Sounds like Jackman’s a lucky man. He also told the press he did have competition from Mick Jagger when he and Furness first started dating. Jackman told Channel NewsAsia that his future bride received a phone call from the legendary rocker while she was eating dinner at his house.

The night my wife (Deborra-Lee Furness) and I kind of got together, there was a dinner party at my house with about 10 people. Her phone rang. She picks it up, puts her hand on it and she goes: “You’ll never believe it, but Mick Jagger is sitting in a limo outside your house, and my friend’s in the limo, and they want me to go and party with them right now.”

Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.

Affiliate marketing is also the name of the industry where a number of different types of companies and individuals are performing this form of Internet marketing, including affiliate networks, affiliate management companies, and in-house affiliate managers, specialized third party vendors, and various types of affiliates/publishers who promote the products and services of their partners.

Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.

Affiliate marketing—using one website to drive traffic to another—is a form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers.[citation needed] While search engines, e-mail, and website syndication capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers' marketing strategies.

Origin

The concept of revenue sharing—paying commission for referred business—predates affiliate marketing and the Internet. The translation of the revenue share principles to mainstream e-commerce happened almost four years after the origination of the World Wide Web in November 1994.

The consensus of marketers and adult industry insiders is that Cybererotica was either the first or among the early innovators in affiliate marketing with a cost per click program.

During November 1994, CDNOW launched its BuyWeb program. With this program CDNOW was the first non-adult website to introduce the concept of an affiliate or associate program with its idea of click-through purchasing. CDNOW had the idea that music-oriented websites could review or list albums on their pages that their visitors may be interested in purchasing. These websites could also offer a link that would take the visitor directly to CDNOW to purchase the albums. The idea for remote purchasing originally arose because of conversations with music label Geffen Records in the fall of 1994. The management at Geffen wanted to sell its artists' CDs directly from its website, but did not want to implement this capability itself. Geffen asked CDNOW if it could design a program where CDNOW would handle the order fulfillment. Geffen realized that CDNOW could link directly from the artist on its website to Geffen's website, bypassing the CDNOW home page and going directly to an artist's music page.

Amazon.com (Amazon) launched its associate program in July 1996. Amazon associates could place banner or text links on their site for individual books, or link directly to the Amazon home page.

When visitors clicked from the associate's website through to Amazon and purchased a book, the associate received a commission. Amazon was not the first merchant to offer an affiliate program, but its program was the first to become widely-known and serve as a model for subsequent programs.

In February 2000, Amazon announced that it had been granted a patent (6,029,141) on all the essential components of an affiliate program.

Affiliate management and program management outsourcing

Successful affiliate programs require significant work and maintenance. Having a successful affiliate program is more difficult than when such programs were just emerging. With the exception of some vertical markets, it is rare for an affiliate program to generate considerable revenue with poor management or no management (i.e., "auto-drive").

Uncontrolled affiliate programs did—and continue to do so today—aid rogue affiliates, who use spamming,[15] trademark infringement, false advertising, "cookie cutting", typosquatting, and other unethical methods that have given affiliate marketing a negative reputation.

The increased number of Internet businesses and the increased number of people that trust the current technology enough to shop and do business online allows further maturation of affiliate marketing. The opportunity to generate a considerable amount of profit combined with a crowded marketplace filled with competitors of equal quality and size makes it more difficult for merchants to be noticed. In this environment, however, being noticed can yield greater rewards.

Recently, the Internet marketing industry has become more advanced. In some areas online media has been rising to the sophistication of offline media, in which advertising has been largely professional and competitive. There are significantly more requirements that merchants must meet to be successful, and those requirements are becoming too burdensome for the merchant to manage successfully in-house. An increasing number of merchants are seeking alternative options found in relatively new outsourced (affiliate) program management (OPM) companies, which are often founded by veteran affiliate managers and network program managers.[17] OPM companies perform affiliate program management for the merchants as a service, similar to advertising agencies promoting a brand or product as done in offline marketing.

Types of affiliate websites

Affiliate websites are often categorized by merchants (i.e., advertisers) and affiliate networks. There are currently no industry-wide accepted standards for the categorization. The following types of websites are generic, yet are commonly understood and used by affiliate marketers.

  • Search affiliates that utilize pay per click search engines to promote the advertisers' offers (i.e., search arbitrage)
  • Comparison shopping websites and directories
  • Loyalty websites, typically characterized by providing a reward system for purchases via points back, cash back, or charitable donations
  • Coupon and rebate websites that focus on sales promotions
  • Content and niche market websites, including product review sites
  • Personal websites (This type of website was the reason for the birth of affiliate marketing; however, such websites are almost reduced to complete irrelevance compared to the other types of affiliate websites.)[citation needed]
  • Weblogs and website syndication feeds
  • E-mail list affiliates (i.e., owners of large opt-in -mail lists that typically employ e-mail drip marketing) and newsletter list affiliates, which are typically more content-heavy
  • Registration path or co-registration affiliates who include offers from other merchants during the registration process on their own website
  • Shopping directories that list merchants by categories without providing coupons, price comparisons, or other features based on information that changes frequently, thus requiring continual updates
  • Cost per action networks (i.e., top-tier affiliates) that expose offers from the advertiser with which they are affiliated to their own network of affiliates
  • Websites using adbars (e.g. Adsense) to display context-sensitive, highly-relevant ads for products on the site.

online busness pay per click

Pay Per Click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content sites, such as blogs, in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system.

Websites that utilize PPC ads will display an advertisement when a keyword query matches an advertiser's keyword list, or when a content site displays relevant content. Such advertisements are called sponsored links or sponsored ads, and appear adjacent to or above organic results on search engine results pages, or anywhere a web developer chooses on a content site.

Although many PPC providers exist, Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter are the three largest network operators, and all three operate under a bid-based model. Cost per click (CPC), varies depending on the search engine and the level of competition for a particular keyword.

The PPC advertising model is open to abuse through click fraud, although Google and other search engines have implemented automated systems to guard against abusive clicks by competitors or corrupt web developers.

online marketing jobs

http://www.legitimateonlinejobs.com/images/make-money.jpgIf the last time you thought about online was a few months ago, then its time to take a fresh look. It’s a medium that does anything but than stand still and the reason it remains the fastest growing marketing channel in history is the power of its results. Whether their campaigns are to build brands or generate leads, more and more marketers are using the internet to reach new customers in ever-smarter ways.

The latest explosive growth of the iconic social media brands Facebook and MySpace is just another step in a journey towards a new landscape for marketers. What’s interesting about social media is that it also chimes with the greater need brands have to achieve cut-through in an ever more crowded media world. As consumers switching their trust to friends and their social networks, the web has provided the perfect tool-kits for delivering that promise.

But these are the next generation digital tools, and many brands still need to get the basics right. Here in the UK the internet took 15% of total ad spend in the first half of the year, will top 17% by Christmas, and here at Digital Strategy Consulting we’ve argued it would trump television by Spring 2010. That’s only the advertising; nobody really knows how much is spent on building websites, but it’s easily more than spent in online media.

Brands have switched their budgets to digital because it gives a better return. For sure there’s a point where the growth in ROI levels off, but few firms are close to that. Instead, what you find is that investing in a search campaign generates sales leads, investing in websites creates a conversion process (remember only a tiny part of this is about e-commerce), and investing in email relationships keeps an open dialogue with prospects. Classic marketing channels still play a role, it’s just that it’s a bit smaller than it was before.

At the Digital Training Academy we’ve been coaching senior marketers around the world this year and discovered the same needs: how to navigate this changing media landscape, how upweighting the role of online boosts results, and which tools track the effects. After all, if the internet is the most accountable channel in marketing history, then you’ll be wanting to constantly test, measure, and refine to optimise your spend.

The bombshell normally lands when the ROI for web activity is set alongside the ROI for traditional marketing. Juggle the budgets around and almost every brand discovers that they can not only reach many more customers without spending more, but they also get better cut-through. With the net often now ahead of TV in terms of the time we spend with media, and with most big purchases researched online before going near the store, it’s enough to even get finance directors pushing for a bigger switch to digital marketing.

internet marketing

http://www.aliantewebdesign.com/img/pages/InternetMarketingStrategy.jpgInternet marketing, also referred to as i-marketing, web marketing, online marketing, or eMarketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

The Internet has brought many unique benefits to marketing, one of which being lower costs for the distribution of information and media to a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing, both in terms of providing instant response and eliciting responses, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing is sometimes considered to have a broader scope because it not only refers to digital media such as the Internet, e-mail, and wireless media; however, Internet marketing also includes management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems.

Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising, and sale.

Internet marketing also refers to the placement of media along different stages of the customer engagement cycle through search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), banner ads on specific websites, e-mail marketing, and Web 2.0 strategies. In 2008 The New York Times working with comScore published an initial estimate to quantify the user data collected by large Internet-based companies. Counting four types of interactions with company websites in addition to the hits from advertisements served from advertising networks, the authors found the potential for collecting data upward of 2,500 times on average per user per month.
